CRU (Campus Crusade for Christ) is an interdenominational Christian organization that seeks to spread the message of Jesus Christ and encourage spiritual growth among students on college campuses. Founded in 1951 by Bill and Vonette Bright, CRU’s mission is to share the gospel, help people grow in their faith, and send them out to impact the world.

  1. Evangelism: CRU focuses heavily on outreach to students, introducing them to the message of Jesus Christ and offering opportunities to engage in Bible study and prayer.
  2. Discipleship: The organization provides resources and support for students to deepen their faith, develop leadership skills, and become more equipped to spread the message of Christ.
  3. Global Impact: While originally focused on U.S. college campuses, CRU has expanded its reach globally, with a presence in over 190 countries. It often works with local churches and other organizations to foster global discipleship.
  4. Conferences and Retreats: CRU organizes large-scale events like conferences, retreats, and missions trips designed to inspire, equip, and challenge students in their spiritual journeys.
  5. Community Building: CRU encourages students to form close-knit, supportive groups where they can grow together spiritually and hold each other accountable in their walk with Christ.

CRU is active on many college campuses across the world, offering:

  • Bible study groups
  • Prayer meetings
  • Leadership training
  • Mentorship and support for students from diverse backgrounds

Through these initiatives, CRU aims to reach students during a formative time in their lives and build a foundation for lifelong faith and leadership.
